Shopping for Flood Victims(Pictures)

Here are those pictures from our shopping day for the flood victims in South Carolina.

The gentleman to the far right is the Sheriff Chaplain that was personally going to see to it that the donations got the the flood victims.

The Chaplain prayed for us and our ministry before we left.

We did not purchase this item however.  Pickled pigs feet.

Yum

We actually had to go back and buy another few bags of groceries because when we were all done we had another donation come in! We didn't get pictures of that shopping trip though.

Because of all of you that donated, we were able to buy 50 jars of baby food, many different baby/toddler gerber snacks, 3 cans of formula, 3 packs of diapers, wipes, about a dozen powerades, a dozen canned meats(hash, vienna sausages, etc), a dozen chef boyardee,a few dozen cans of veggies, a few dozen fruits, a couple 100% apple juice and several jars of peanut butter.

We can't help everyone, but we can help someone.

And if  we all did that, then everyone would be helped!

Thanks again!

Many Blessings,
The Mama

I Could Totally Do This Everday

We went to the Atlantic ocean today! Crazy windy which meant spectacular waves.

You can tell how windy it was by Little Miss's hair

The ocean was so warm

Snuggle Bug and Sissy were shell hunting and found quite a few that the waves washed in.

It was the first time our kids went in the Atlantic.
A wave came up and splashed Little Miss.  That was the end of her ocean adventure.

We'll hit another beach tomorrow and hope it's not quite so blustery!

Many Blessings,
The Mama

Georgia On My Mind

1st of all, thank you to those who donated money to help purchase much needed items for those affected by the historic flooding in south carolina!

We were able to purchase $200 worth of supplies!
I have pics of us shopping and dropping everything off but the pics are on the phone here and it keeps saying the memory is to low to post the pics.

Ugh.

So when that gets worked out I will post all the pictures.

I've been having to post on the cell the last few times because our computer wasn't working(again). That's why my lasts few blog posts have had a million typos and the layout isn't the greatest. But good news! It started working again! Now all I need is WiFi.

We arrived in Washington georgia on Monday. We had to go an extra hour out of our way to avoid some closed roads and bridges in south Carolina.

I love georgia!

The land is gorgeous and the homes...

There are over a 100 antebellum homes in this area.

I have pictures but again with the low memory thing.
We are heading to the middle of georgia today and boondockinv in southern georgia the day after.
We are making our way to Florida-yay!

Though the weather here in Georgia has been great too. It's been about 80 and sunny.

Mama like.

Got to run
. we are eating lunch real quick before heading out.

Helping South Carolina Flood Victims

We ended up heading southeast into South Carolina yesterday. We felt led to come help and be the hands and feet of Jesus instead of just bypassing the state. So we are 50 miles from Columbia. Our campground is safe and we double checked that the roads we would have to take to get here were open and they were.

We are wanting to gather supplies for those left homeless by the immense flooding and are asking for your help. The people here are in desperate need of food and baby supplies. There has been so many donations of drinking water that they no longer need anymore. Praise God!

On Tuesday alone(the first day the rains stopped), the food bank in Columbia South Carolina helped 500 people. That's at just one food bank in one city.

The needs are massive. And it rained heavily again here yesterday causing already swollen rivers in the area to overflow. They just can't catch a break.

So if you would like a chance to help directly then go to the right on my blog to the PayPal button and donate today. We are only in this area till tomorrow so today will be your only opportunity.

We will be purchasing baby wipes, diapers of various sizes, formula, canned items with pull tabs-fruits,veggies,and meats, shelf viable milk, pb and sports drinks. These are the things listed on the red cross and food banks updated  website.

100% of your donations will be used for the. items mentioned above.

Our family will purchase the items and then deliver them on behalf of all who helped.

Think how many cans of food a simple $10 donation can buy!

We'll be sure to take pictures as we shop and deliver the items you helped to donate.

Can't wait to see what God does!

The rains subside

The rain finally stopped yesterday after a week of downpours. The water was laying everywhere. The ground couldn' t absorb anymore. Bug we have beautiful sunny skies today and 80 degree weather! The ground is firmer which is good since we are pulling out today and heading to southern SC for a few days. Awe are stopping by a shop to get our one tire replaced . then it's a 3 hour treck( which means 4 with stops).
The leg after that is proving difficult. With most campgrounds under water in SC and road closures we have to figure out what we want or can do. We are thinking about heading south west to Georgia but we also don't want to catch any of the Appalachians.
The kids are wanting to he
Get to Florida as soon as possible so we. Can stay for a few weeks.
We will see the Biltmore Mansion tomorrow.
Thank you all for the prayers! So glad Joaquin turned out to sea! We had enough rain as it was. The area we left thursday around Williamsburg had water knee deep 12 blocks in from shore.
They are doing more evacuations in Columbia SC because they think the dam will break. Prayers for all the families affected by the floods.
We were worried about the new place we are heading because its right on the SC/NC line. We weren't sure how much rain they got but I talked to our hosts and they only got about an inch and half. Yet 35 miles away from them, is underwater. Crazy.
Out stay with our last hosts,Dick and Carmen, was such a treat! They let us take showers, watch TV and pretty much treat their home as if it were ours. That was especially nice given the bad weather that left us cooped up in the trailer.  We were even able to do our laundry there and Carmen gave the kids some food that first night when we were waiting for the roadside assistance to fix our tire.
OK, our other tire is fixed now and we are hitting the road.

Game Plan?

Joaquin is suppose to become a category 4 tonight, though it is predicted to weaken as it goes north.  The projected path of the storm is still all over the place. Hard to plan when you have no idea what is coming your way.

Besides Joaquin, the east coast here is getting lots of rain and wind from another system. Winds are 10-20 with gusts of 25 today. But the rain is suppose to crank up tomorrow(about 3" by 2pm) and the gusts will be up to 30 mph. I can't tell you how much that kind of wind can push a 39' trailer around on a road.

In those circumstances we would normally stay put and wait for the system to pass.  But waiting in this situation means we might get the effects of a hurricane afterwards.

What to do, what to do?? And when to do it??

We still have not seen any of the things we came here to see.  So do we go do that today and leave tomorrow as planned? Or do we cut our losses and head out today?

I always pray that God puts us where we are suppose to be so I want to make sure we are listening to him and go when he wants us to go and stop when he wants us to stop.

And I think we were suppose to come here, but why?  We have barely left our trailer due to the near constant rain.

Pray for lots of wisdom for us today as we decide whether to leave today or tomorrow.  Also pray that the wind does not gust while we are on the road. It's a longer drive for us(3 1/2 hours) so I hate to think of adverse weather conditions the whole way.

Many Blessings,
The Mama
